Scholarship

Scholarship Policy

The Medina Spinning and Weaving Guild offers two scholarships per year to members for the further development of their fiber skills.

Those awarded the scholarship, through a random drawing, will use the award for education to advance skills. This can take the form of a class, whether in-person or on-line; books; tutoring; or independent study.

The scholarship will be up to $200 per person, depending on the finances of the guild. The specific amount will be announced at the time the guild calls for applications.

To be awarded the scholarship, you must be a member in good standing for at least one year. A member may only receive a scholarship once every five years.

Members will apply for the scholarship by submitting their name and a general statement of intention via email or on paper. For example:

Wanda Weaver

I want to learn more about weaving Summer and Winter structures.

or

Candace Crochet

I want to learn more about knitting or crocheting with silk fibers.

Deadline for applications will be announced each year. Two names will be drawn from all the applications.

Scholarship winners are expected to make a presentation to the guild membership about what they learned, complete with samples, within one guild season from receipt of the award.
